Why the install kills enrolment
Enrolment happens at the counter, mid-transaction, with people waiting. Every extra step loses a share of customers, and an app install is not one step — it is a store, an account, a download and a launch.
Staff feel it too. A team that has watched three customers give up will stop offering the program, and a program nobody offers gets no members regardless of how good the software is.
Web card or wallet pass
A web card is a page the customer opens. Nothing to install, identical on iOS and Android, and it works the instant they scan your enrolment code. What it cannot do is appear on the lock screen — it relies on the customer opening a link.
A wallet pass adds to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet in one tap, sits with their payment cards, and can push notifications. Issuing them requires a paid Apple Developer account and an approved Google issuer account, which is why they show up on pricier plans.
Bioflow's cards are web-based today. Wallet pass issuance is on the roadmap and not shipped — if lock-screen reminders are a requirement for you now, a wallet-native platform is the right call.
The question to ask a vendor
Not "do you have an app?" — most have a staff app, which is fine and expected. Ask specifically: what does the customer have to do the first time, at the counter, to join. If the answer includes an app store, factor in the drop-off.
