How to add a link in your X bio
The most common mistake on X is typing a URL into the bio text and assuming it works. It does not — it renders as plain text and nobody can tap it.
What this platform actually allows
X gives a profile exactly one clickable link: the Website field. A URL typed into the 160-character bio is plain text, not a link.

Step by step
- 1
Open your profile
Tap your avatar, then Profile.
- 2
Tap Edit profile
The button sits next to your profile photo.
- 3
Find the Website field
Separate from the Bio field. This is the only clickable spot on the whole profile.
- 4
Paste your link-in-bio URL
Not your single most important destination — the page that holds all of them, since you only get this one field.
- 5
Save
The link appears under your bio as a tappable blue link.
Platform interfaces change without notice. If a menu name here does not match what you see, the platform moved it — the sequence is usually still the same.
When you do not need a link in bio here
If you only ever promote one destination and it never changes, put that URL straight in the Website field. A link page adds a hop for no benefit when there is genuinely nothing to choose between.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the link in my X bio not clickable?
Because you put it in the bio text. X only makes the separate Website field clickable — move the URL there and it becomes tappable.
Can I have more than one link on X?
Not clickable ones. One Website field is the limit, which is exactly why link-in-bio pages are common on X.
Does X Premium change this?
Premium extends how much you can write, but the profile still has one clickable Website field.
Is a link page free?
Bioflow's free plan covers it — 10 links, sections, 6 themes and click analytics, no credit card.
